Sanford police deliver George Zimmerman evidence to FBI, Department of Justice
Zimmerman acquitted of 2nd degree murder in Trayvon Martin's death
Sanford police said on Monday that they delivered evidence from the George Zimmerman case to the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder in the death 17-year-old Trayvon Martin by a six-person jury.
The evidence, including Zimmerman's gun, was shipped to the FBI and DOJ on Monday. The DOJ started an investigation into Martin's death shortly after the shooting, but no additional charges have been filed.
Also on Monday, Seminole County Sheriff's Office said Zimmerman helped rescue a family out of an overturned vehicle last week. It was the first sighting of Zimmerman since his acquittal on July 13.
