LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Highway Patrol says a vehicle hit a school bus that was stopped to pick up students near Lakeland.
Four students were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries after the Tuesday morning crash on Fish Hatchery Road. The bus was carrying 43 students to Tenoroc High School at the time of the crash.
FHP says 67-year-old Ronald A. Szekely glanced down and failed to notice the bus, which had activated its lights when it stopped to load passengers. He struck the rear of the bus.
Troopers say two other students were released to their parents on the scene. Both had minor injuries.
