Seaplane flips in DeLand lake

No injuries reported after plane flips on lake

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Volusia County firefighters and deputies were called out to Lake Beresford after a plane crashed into the lake.

The seaplane landed in the lake and flipped at 1900 Hontoon Road in Deland.

Officials said the pilot was able to get out of the plane without injuries after they discovered the plane stuck on a sandbar.

The pilot was rescued by a nearby boater and brought to shore without any injuries, officials said.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife brought out another sea plane that will tow the crashed plane out of the lake.

The FAA has been called out to investigate.
