Search fails to find car in Orange County pond

Driver, if located, could face charges, FHP says

ORLANDO, Fla. – A dive team searched an Orange County pond Thursday morning for a vehicle after a passerby called authorities but nothing was found.

The pond is located by the westbound State Road 408 on-ramp near Alafaya Trail.

A portion of the fence surrounding the pond is collapsed and tire tracks in the grass led toward the pond, prompting the search.

The Florida Highway Patrol said an investigation showed that the vehicle was a 90s-model white Ford Explorer and the crash happened around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Troopers said the driver, if located, could face charges of leaving the scene of an accident.
