Security Beefed up at Daytona International Speedway

DAYTONA, Fla. – Safety is top priority at Daytona International Speedway. While officials didn't go into detail about security measures, fans certainly noticed a difference.

As race fans geared up for the Coke Zero 400, security geared up as well.

"I feel safe here. Security is high," said Collins Hanson.

Security spent hours checking bags, cars and campers.

"Mirrors looking underneath our cars. It's pretty night but I'm glad for that," said Joani Johnson.

"I noticed a lot more cops," said Jim Brown.

Brown has been coming to the speedway for years and said the number of law enforcement officers is what he noticed the most.

"At different entrances, exits and in the infield. Yeah, their presence is known," he said.

Fans said they appreciate the extra security, which puts them at ease.

"I don't have a problem with security wherever we go," said Johnson.

"I see all the people, that they're really nice and polite to us. I do see a lot of security and I do feel safe, so thank you much," said Guy Aronson.
