CASSELBERRY, Fla. -

A Casselberry man is facing child neglect charges after police say his daughter had to be rushed to the hospital while he was out on a date.

Randy Sulzener, 50, bonded out of the Seminole County jail Monday evening.

Casselberry police say Sulzener left his 9 and 10-year-old daughters home alone around 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Shortly after 5:45 p.m., police say they were called out to the home on Huntington Drive after the 10-year-old injured herself with a rope and was found unconscious.

"The neighborhood kids came running up saying that she had gotten hung up on a rope," said William Register, who lives a few doors down from Sulzener.

"She was unconscious so I had to lay her down, check her vitals, make sure she was breathing, make sure there was no more obstructions. By then, the EMTs showed up and she regained consciousness," said Register.

Sulzener declined to comment to Local 6 Monday night. Police say the 10-year-old is now in stable condition at Arnold Palmer Hospital.

According to an arrest report, Sulzener, who's a chef at UCF, initially told police he was at work and neighbors were supposed to watching his kids. Investigators say Sulzener eventually admitted that he was out on a date when his daughter was injured.

The Department of Children and Families was also called in to investigate.
