SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Seminole County authorities are launching a campaign to prevent residents from becoming victims of car burglaries after an increase in incidents this year.
Crime statistics show 1,402 vehicle burglaries were committed in Seminole County during the first nine months of this year, a 3 percent increase over the same time last year, according to a release.

In the 10-week campaign, local law enforcement agencies will conduct a series of coordinated safety checks, leaving assessment cards and courtesy notices on thousands of vehicles in typical burglary hotspot areas across the county.
The campaign is expected to reach more than 10,000 motorists.
