SANFORD, Fla. - Deputies in Seminole County are investigating yet another bra theft from the same Victoria's Secret store that officials believe someone's stolen from at least five times.
According to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, the latest theft happened Dec. 19. They've charged 21-year-old Burgandy Smith of Orange City with grand theft after they said she stole nearly $2,000 worth of bras and shirts from the Victoria's Secret at Seminole Towne Center in Sanford.
Deputies said they were investigating Smith's friend, Kevin Jackson, as the suspect of an alleged theft at the Walmart on Rhinehart Road.
Deputies searched the car and found shopping bags Smith said were her's full of stolen merchandise, some even with the anti-theft devices still attached.
A store manager confirmed to deputies 29 bras and 11 shirts were missing from the store and provided them with receipts for the merchandise totaling $1676.39.
Both Smith and Jackson were charged with theft in addition to other drug-related charges.
The Victoria's Secret store was the target of theft on three different occasions in July, August and September and at least one other time in 2011, when nearly $5,000 of merchandise was stolen.
According to deputies, the store does not have video surveillance.
Smith and Jackson's arrests were part of a 10-day undercover holiday crime prevention operation. Deputies made 48 arrests, many of them relating to theft and burglaries.
