SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – The Seminole County mother who is accused of killing her daughter before attempting to kill herself has been found incompetent to stand trial, according to her attorney.
Sujatha Guduru was going to be tried on first-degree murder charges for the shooting earlier this year.
Guduru is accused of shooting her 17-year-old daughter Chetana in the face twice before turning the gun on herself.
Guduru's attorney tells Local 6 the judge found Guduru incompetent to stand trial on Friday and ordered her to a state mental health hospital, where she will be evaluated and treated.
Officials have up to six months to re-evaluate her to see if she becomes competent to stand trial.
Guduru's attorney said she has been suffering mental illnesses for more than 20 years.
