ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - A chemisrty teacher is off the job and awaiting possible termination after he admitted to using his work computer to hire prostitutes.
Lake Brantley High School teacher, Chris Dalland, admitted to the accusation, after his name appeared on a client list for a notorious alleged brothel.
Seminole County School District officials won't say exactly how they learned Dalland visited a prostitute, but they were tipped off and then looked at his work computer and found all the evidence they needed to put him off the job.
"Honestly, I'm not surprised," said one of his former students. "He kind of seemed like the kind of guy who would do that. That's creepy. At a school like this, there's a lot of young girls and stuff like that, it's not right."
Students knew something was wrong when their teacher was removed from the classroom late last month. District officials learned Dalland was on the prostitution client list, and immediately put him on paid leave and a few days later, removed him from his teaching duties.
"If they got him for that, then that's probably a good thing that he's been removed from the situation, so our kids aren't exposed to it," said Carla Thomas, who son had Dalland for 10th grade chemistry.
The client list shows Dalland met the prostitute after school hours, but it's unclear if Dalland used his work computer during school hours to set up the alleged dates.
Dalland's parents knew he was part of a larger prostitution scandal that has already brought down a state representative and a Maitland councilman. When reached at home, Dalland's father told Local 6, "I don't know who else is going to be snared in this whole thing."
It's not the first time he's been in trouble. Dalland was put on probation in 2007 after the district learned he used his school computer to watch porn.
"He was on his computer a lot," said an unidentified student.
Dalland has not been charged with any crime.
He's on paid leave and is not working with students, said SCSD Human Resources Director Ron Pinnell. The school board will meet next week to discuss putting him on unpaid leave, and will meet again next month to talk about firing him.
