VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - Local 6 news helicopter Sky 6 spotted a shark in the Ponce Inlet on Wednesday dangerously close to swimmers and surfers.
Grace Watts, 12, and her friends from Deltona, were surfing for hours and saw dolphins and manatees, but no shark.
"It's just nerve racking, I guess," said Watts. "They're just hunting for food because we saw a lot of fish throughout the day."
There have been two shark bites in Volusia County this year.
Kyle Kirkpatrick, 11, was bitten on his foot while swimming in Ormond Beach three months ago.
In April, a 21-year-old man was bitten on his hand while surfing on New Smyrna Beach.
The numbers are down from last year, when by this time, there were four shark bites.
Surfers told Local 6 they're not going to let sharks stop them from riding the waves.
"If you're going go to the beach and surf, you just can't you know, be in fear over it, and you kinda just got to go out there and take the chance," said Steven McGinley.
