Shooting, home invasion occur at same house 30 minutes apart

Orange County deputies investigate whether incidents related

ORLANDO, Fla. – A woman was shot and injured while sitting in her car outside an Orange County home, which intruders broke into 30 minutes later, officials said.

The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. Monday in the 6100 block of Perrine Drive near Meadowbrook Middle School in Orlando.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the area and found a 39-year-old woman suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Deputies said she was shot while sitting in her vehicle.

The woman was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Deputies said the shooting is possibly related to a home invasion that occurred at the home 30 minutes after the shooting.

According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies were called back to the home, and a 23-year-old man said he was home alone when three men, at least one of whom had a gun, forced their way inside.

The man was forced to open two safes in the home, and the intruders stole unknown items and a gold chain that the man was wearing, officials said.

The culprits then stole the man's black Chevrolet Impala and fled the scene, deputies said. The stolen car was found near Lejune Drive and Robbins Avenue in Pine Hills.

The victim was not injured.

No arrests have been made, and an investigation is ongoing.
