KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Kissimmee police continue to investigate a shooting spree that left at least eight homes and one business riddled with bullets.
Detectives said it happened sometime between late Monday night and early Tuesday morning. Crime scene technicians spent all day Tuesday processing three separate scenes.
Five townhomes on Temple Grove Lane in the Donegan Townhome subdivision, one home on Lesesne Street, as well as two homes and a bar located on Smith Street were all hit with bullets.
Police say despite the similarities, at this point, they have not found evidence to link the shootings and they do not have a suspect.
"I'm scared. I'm scared that with things like that I can't protect him," said Leann Clifford, who lives in one of the townhomes with her 2-year-old son.
Clifford said she and her son were sound asleep on a bed when a bullet rattled the wall right next to them in the middle of the night.
"On the opposite side, the bullet hole was literally, maybe, about right here," said Clifford, as she pointed to the wall right above her pillow.
Clifford says she is one of the lucky ones. Bullets actually pierced the walls in four other homes in her Donegan townhome subdivision.
Local 6 spoke with one man who was sitting on the front porch of a Smith Street home when a hail of bullets came flying by around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. He did not want to to talk on camera, but said he saw a gold Jeep drive by, then heard gunfire.
"If you can't feel safe in your home, I don't know where you can feel safe," said Clifford.
Clifford said she and her son will now be sleeping on the opposite side of their home, away from the street.
"We didn't lose any lives and we just have to prepare, just in case something like this ever happens again," said Clifford.
Police said no one was hurt in any of the shootings and most people didn't even realize their homes had been hit until they saw the damage Tuesday morning.
