Shots fired at busy intersection in Orlando

1 arrested after drivers witness shooting

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police were called to a busy intersection Saturday afternoon after 911 calls came in about shots being fired from a car.

Police said around 2 p.m. witnesses saw a man shoot a gun from the sunroof of his car at Michigan Avenue and Bumby Road.

The man was firing at another car, but police said no one was injured.

Witnesses described the suspect car and a short time later it was located at Lake Underhill Road and Anderson Street.

Police said they made a felony vehicle stop and one person, 26-year-old Alfonso Ortiz-Nieves was arrested for carrying a concealed firearm.

Police are not sure why shots were fired or if anyone in the other vehicle involved fired shots back.

Police did not say if Ortiz-Nieves was the one who fired the shots, but the case remains under investigation.
