DELAND, Fla. -

A skydiver was injured after officials said his parachute had a hard opening, causing him to drift off course.

Officials said 62-year-old Michael Trusser, of Deland, was skydiving when his parachute had a hard opening.

This caused a motion which injured Trusser in the air and caused him to go off course, said officials.

Authorities said Trusser was found about a half mile away from Skydive Deland, at 1301 Shapiro Road, which is the Volusia County School Board Transportation depot.

Trusser landed on top of a truck that was in the parking lot, officials said.

Trusser was airlifted to Halifax Medical Center with serious injuries, officials said.
