LEESBURG, Fla. – A small plane missed the runway, crash landing in a pond at the Leesburg International Airport Thursday, according to fire officials.
Leesburg Fire, Lake County Fire Rescue and Lake EMS responded to the crash at 11:17 a.m.
The pilot landed short of the runway and into a marshy area.
One victim, the pilot, was pulled out of the plane, according to the Leesburg Fire Department.
The pilot was examined for injuries and refused further treatment, said Leesburg Deputy Fire Chief Joe Mera.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
The Leesburg Airport is 35 miles northwest of Orlando.
