Son of slain Brevard deputy accused of sex with girl

Ryan Scott Pill arrested in Brevard County

VIERA, Fla. – The son of slain Brevard County sheriff's Deputy Barbara Pill was arrested on allegations of having sex with a teenage girl who was in the agency's explorer program.

Ryan Scott Pill, who was twice employed by the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, along with the Melbourne Village Police Department, was arrested Thursday, accused of having sex with a minor.

Officials allege that Pill had sex with a girl who was 16 or 17 years old at least 10 times.  The document says Pill was at least 24 years old at the time.

Pill was a corrections deputy at the jail, according to Sheriff Wayne Ivey. He was fired on Oct. 26, as a result of the allegations.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office website, Law Enforcement Career Exploring is open to young men and women ages 14 and not yet 21 years old who have completed at least the 8th grade with an interest in learning more about careers in the field of law enforcement.

?Pill also served as an officer with Melbourne Village Police Department between May 2009 and September 2012, according to Chief Jack King. Pill was investigated once for a sexual assault accusation, but it was found to be unsubstantiated. He left the agency in good standing, King said.

Pill's mother was killed in the line of duty in 2012.

Brandon Bradley was convicted of Barbara Pill's murder in April, and the jury recommended the death penalty. A hearing on the final sentencing for that case is scheduled for later this month.
