South Daytona police say woman who killed skateboarder was high at time of crash

SOUTH DAYTONA, Fla. – A 31-year-old woman accused of running over and killing a skateboarder in February in South Daytona was high on drugs at the time of the accident, according to police.

Jodi Arcuri, of Port Orange, turned herself in Wednesday at the Volusia County Jail after an arrest warrant was issued on a charge of DUI manslaughter.

South Daytona police said a toxicology test shows Arcuri was under the influence of drugs February 3 when she struck Stephen Michael Wilson, 22, of New Smyrna Beach, on U.S. Highway 1.

Police said Arcuri had a blood alcohol level of 0.092, above the legal limit of 0.08.  she also had cocaine, benzoylecgonine, methamphetamine, diazepam and nordiazepam in her system, police said.

Arcuri, who is expected to appear in court Thursday afternoon, was being held on $50,000 bond.
