Dragon capsule to undock from ISS on Sunday

First official mission under new contract with NASA

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. – The Dragon capsule from SpaceX is set to undock from the International Space Station on Sunday morning.

NASA says, the capsule, which is about the size of a small bedroom, will be released from the ISS around 9:26 a.m., and will splashdown in the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of southern California, around 3:20 p.m.

The Dragon will bring back more than 1,600 pounds of cargo, including supplies and scientific research and equipment.

This mission is so significant because it's the first official one under a new contract between SpaceX and NASA to re-supply the ISS, using a spacecraft from an American company, since out shuttle program ended last summer.
