NASA to hold readiness review for asteroid mission

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – Mission mangers at NASA are expected to meet Tuesday for a final review before this week's planned rocket launch to an asteroid. 

The OSIRIS-REx satellite will launch on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral.

The spacecraft will travel for two years to study and collect samples from an asteroid. It will then send the samples back to Earth. 

NASA hopes the multibillion-dollar mission will help scientists better understand how the solar system was formed. 

Liftoff is set for 7:05 p.m. Thursday.
