Crew members of the Andalucia Galleon rang a bell to greet dozens of spectators Tuesday morning at Jetty Park.

The wooden replica of a 16th century Spanish tall ship is docking at Port Canaveral for a 12-day event marking Florida's 500th anniversary.

The galleon is a wooden replica of a 16th-century sailing ship. It is 180 feet long, with six decks, three masts and seven sails, and has a crew of 26.

The ship departed Miami at 6 a.m. Monday for the Space Coast, Enrique Torres, head of logistics, told Local 6 News partner Florida Today.

The event is being coordinated by the National Air, Sea and Space Foundation.
