ST. CLOUD, Fla. – Two St. Cloud men are accused of stealing a truck and breaking into other vehicles to steal pills and cash, according to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.

Kalyn Johnson, 20, and Thomas Sonderman, 21, were with two women around 3 a.m. Feb. 28 when Johnson parked one woman's red Jeep, took the keys and then started walking around Jay Drive pulling on the door handles of vehicles to see if they were open, the charging affidavit said.

One of the women told deputies that she lost sight of the men, then Sonderman approached the area about 10 minutes later, driving recklessly in a tan truck, deputies said.

News 6 spoke to the wife of the truck owner who said the men crashed the stolen truck. Both suspects slammed into the windshield, causing the injuries shown in their mug shots.

"I heard they jumped the median in front of Checkers and crashed into a ditch," the woman said. "Their heads, from what the truck looks like, crashed into the windshield. There's no airbags in that truck, so they just went head first."

She added that the truck is totaled.

Johnson got out of the passenger's side of the truck and got into the Jeep and both men drove off, according to the affidavit. The woman said Sonderman was hitting trash cans and mailboxes with the stolen truck.

Both men pulled over the vehicles in front of Cool Breeze Circle, where they removed items from the Jeep and put them in the bed of the truck, deputies said. The men told the women they were no longer needed. The men left in the truck and the women left in the Jeep, only to be pulled over a few minutes later, the report said.

Several different people called police to report that someone had broken into their vehicles. Deputies said a purse, bank cards, $100 in cash and prescription pills were stolen.

Johnson and Sonderman are facing multiple charges, including burglary of an unoccupied vehicle and marijuana possession. They both also had active warrants in Missouri.
