St. Cloud woman injured after running into burning home

Fire officials say woman ran into home to grab some of her belongings

ST. CLOUD, Fla. – A St. Cloud woman was transported to the hospital for burns to her back and arm after she decided to run into her burning home to grab some of her belongings, according to fire officials.

A neighbor called 911 to report the fire at the home at 827 Robinson Court just before 2 p.m. Saturday.

Janie Kohler, a neighbor, said the woman told her she needed to grab her car keys.

Kohler said when the woman came back out, she was badly burned on her back and had a cut on her forehead.

Kohler said she had to stop the woman from running back inside the home a second time.

"My focus was on her, when you see that kind of burns, she looked like she was definitely in shock," said Kohler. "She kept wanting to go back in the house and screaming about the dogs."

State Fire Marshal Michael Vitta is investigating the cause of the fire, but tells Local 6 at this point, he doesn't suspect foul play.

Over a dozen firefighters worked to put out the flames.
