TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A new National Assessment of Educational Progress report shows progress among Florida's fourth-graders in reading compared to the national average, scoring 227 compared to a 221 mean.

In math, fourth graders in Florida outscored the national average by a single point - 242 to 241. Sunshine State students in eighth grade were exactly on par with the rest of the country in reading but slightly behind in math.

Scores in Florida and around the country have all increased by at least a few points for both grades in math and reading over the last 10 years.
