Man arrested in fatal shooting after barricading himself in Apopka home

Shooting resulted in death of 17-year-old boy, deputies say

APOPKA, Fla. – A man has been arrested in a fatal shooting after he barricaded himself in an Apopka home, authorities said.

The standoff happened Sunday afternoon at Binion and Boy Scout roads.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said it was investigating the circumstances of a fatal shooting that happened Friday.

Preliminary information indicated the incident was a dispute between cousins that escalated into gunfire, deputies said.

The shooting in the 3300 block of Warren Sapp Drive resulted in the death of a 17-year-old boy. Deputies said the suspect was identified as Mike Gue, 25.

Investigators and deputies conducted followup to determine Gue's whereabouts throughout the weekend. The Sheriff's Office said a tip was received at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Deputies went to the 1200 block of South Binion Drive and surrounded the location in order to prevent any escape as the Sheriff's Office investigated his sighting, deputies said. Several deputies surrounded the home.

The Sheriff's Office said 15 people were removed from the location, but Gue would not surrender and stayed hidden or barricaded inside the residence.

Deputies spent several hours using a public address system and phone to make announcements and phone calls to get Gue to surrender to no avail, the Sheriff's Office said.

Tear gas was used to get Gue to come out. Deputies said when he would not exit the home, SWAT entered to get him out. After a long search, they were able to make an arrest without injury to anyone, the Sheriff's Office said.

Gue was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder. Deputies said he was taken to OCSO Operations for questioning and will be booked in at the Orange County Jail.

The residence he was found at will be searched for a murder weapon or any other items of evidentiary value, the Sheriff's Office said.
