Stolen car crashes into Orlando apartment complex sign

Water turned off to Hollowbrook Apartments

ORLANDO, Fla. – A driver crashed a stolen car into an Orlando apartment complex sign while fleeing police, breaking a water main and flooding a roadway, officials said.

The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hollowbrook Apartments in the 5400 block of Curry Ford Road.

According to Orlando police, officers attempted to stop a vehicle, but the driver sped off.  A short time later, the vehicle was found crashed into the sign, police said.

One person was found near the car and was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.  Police were interviewing the person as part of their investigation.

The vehicle also struck and damaged the water main that feeds the complex, prompting officials to turn off water to the apartments.  Crews from OUC were working to repair the water main.

No other details were released.
