Stolen property recovered, burglaries solved in Palm Bay
Police: 3 arrested after stolen property found, guns recovered
Palm Bay police say they arrested three suspects and recovered thousands of dollars in stolen property including almost 30 firearms.
Police said they had performed an investigation for a week after reports of home burglaries came in throughout the city.
Jason Bennett, Aaron Goodwin and Frederick Clemons, all of Palm Bay were arrested and police said they could all face burglary, theft and drug charges.
Over the course of the last month, police said a series of home burglaries were being reported.
All three men chose random targets after casing neighborhoods and waiting for opportunities where residents were not home, said police.
The men forced their way into the homes and stole computers, gaming systems, jewelry, cash, prescription drugs, TV’s, firearms, knives, credit cards and other property.
Police said citizens provided information about a suspicious vehicle and further investigation yielded the identities of the three men.
The men were taking the stolen property to a local storage facility. Late Friday evening, police said the primary suspects were located and arrested.
Police said they served a search warrant for the storage unit and officers located and recovered the stolen property.
"We will likely clear more than a dozen residential burglaries as a result of these arrests,” said Sgt. Ron Lugo.
Police are continuing to investigate and are working with the victims in order to identify and return the stolen property to the rightful owners, officials said.
“The citizens played a key role in helping us solve these crimes,” said Sgt. Lance Fisher. “They gave us good information about a suspicious vehicle that our detectives were able to use to develop suspects and ultimately stop the crime spree.”
