ORLANDO, Fla. -

Florida transportation officials on Wednesday tweeted that an extra car will be added to a SunRail train to keep up with demand.

"#SunRail reports 9761 boardings Tues, up more than 1000 from Mon. Also running one train with a 3rd passenger car to meet midday demand," @MyFDOT_CFL tweeted.

All SunRail trains had been running with two cars, and since its debut last week, SunRail has added extra trains to keep up with passengers.

Also, to make up for the amount of riders in Volusia County, Votran began offering a free shuttle service from Deltona. It runs every half hour from the Deltona Plaza on Deltona Boulevard from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Riders can park there for free and take the shuttle to the SunRail station.  The service runs until May 16, which coincides with the end of the free SunRail service.

Starting May 19, passengers will have to pay to ride SunRail.

SunRail currently doesn't run on weekends.
