Surveillance Video released in Apopka McDonald's robbery

Police say robbery could be related to another in area

APOPKA, Fla. – Police have released surveillance video on Tuesday of the Apopka McDonald's robbery where gunmen tied up workers and customers early Monday morning.

Police said the gunmen stormed the restaurant off of Rock Springs Road and zip-tied the manager, who was pregnant, two workers and a customer.

In the video, one of the gunmen grabs customer Sherry Brunson, walks her off and ties her up.

"They tie-wrapped their hands and they had the manager lie down beside me, I didn't see the other 2 until it was over with," Brunson said. "Apparently I was the only one that had their feet tie-wrapped."

A masked man then forces an employee to open the safe and a few cash registers, grabs the money and walks out past the drive-thru lanes, according to the video.

"Well they were professional, they went in, got their money, went out, no one got hurt," Brunson said.

It has been reported that there are four suspects, three that entered the store wearing masks and gloves, two armed with guns.

"When you are tied up laying face first on the floor, I really wondered was this it?" said Brunson.

The suspects then put the victims in a back room and stole an undisclosed amount of money, along with their cellphones and watches. The suspects then drove away in a gold or tan Crown Victoria car.

None of the victims were injured.

On Sunday night at 10 p.m., another armed robbery with three masked gunmen was reported in Altamonte Springs at a Publix.

"I'm at Publix right now and people came in here with guns," said one 911 caller who was inside the store when the gunmen stormed inside.

Surveillance video shows several employees and customers were forced to put their arms in the air as the robbers demanded the manager on duty and asked to be brought to the cash office.

Deputies said they believe the robberies may be related and are investigating that connection.
