Suspect arrested in fatal shooting at Orange County gas station

Man shot at point-blank range, killed outside of gas station, deputies say

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orange County deputies on Friday arrested a man in a fatal shooting at a Race Trac gas station.

Richard McKinney, 50, was taken into custody on South Orange Blossom Trail in connection with the Thursday night shooting.

Eric George, 42, died in the shooting around 5 p.m. Thursday at the RaceTrac at 6001 S. John Young Parkway near Oak Ridge Road in Orlando.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, George rode a bike to the store and was inside the RaceTrac at the same time as McKinney. They both left the store, and McKinney walked up to George and shot him several times, deputies said.

Deputies said George and McKinney knew each other through a woman.  George was the ex-husband of the woman, who used to be McKinney's girlfriend, according to deputies.

McKinney told reporters as he was arrested that he didn't kill anyone and he was fishing at the time of the shooting.

"I didn't kill nobody. Period, wasn't about no woman or no one," McKinney said.

McKinney is charged with first-degree murder.
