Cops: Suspect in gas station robberies turns self in after pictures released

Duo believed to be connected to armed robberies in Volusia, Seminole, Orange

DeLAND, Fla. – The two suspects involved in the series of gas station armed robberies in the Volusia, Seminole and Orange Counties area are in custody after one of the men turned himself in following the surveillance picture release, authorities said. 

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office released surveillance images on Tuesday of the man, later identified as, Alfonse Combs, 24, who would usually enter the store first. Combs, 24, turned himself in after the images were released, authorities said.

Combs is charged with attempted first degree murder, carrying a concealed weapon and armed robbery.

The second suspect was later identified as Jaseary Brown, 18, and he is charged with armed robbery.

The charges pertain to a robbery in Orange Country on Sept.19 at the Citgo station, in which shots were fired, and another robbery on Sep.19 at the DeLand Gas & Food and on Sep.13 at the Kangaroo store.

The two suspects are linked to 12 armed robberies ranging from Sept. 11-19, and the Seminole County Sheriffs's Office and Orange County Sheriff's Office are also investigating two separate cases involving the two suspects. 

Deputies said the suspects have been linked to the following robberies:

Orange County:

Sept. 20: Citgo, 8435 East Colonial Drive

Sept. 12: 7-11 located at 1345 Lee Rd, Winter Park

Volusia County:

Sept. 13: Kangaroo store, 399 S. Charles R. Beall Blvd., DeBary​
Sept. 18: DeLand Gas & Food, 702 S. Spring Garden Ave.​
Sept. 19: DeLand Gas & Food, 702 S. Spring Garden Ave.​

Seminole County:

Sept. 11:  Circle K located at 2680 w SR 434 in Altamonte Springs​
Sept. 13:  Quick Stop, 2201 W 1st Street in Sanford
Sept. 15:  Kwik Stop, 3800 Orlando Drive Sanford
