Pedestrian struck twice, killed in Pine Hills hit-and-run

Florida Highway Patrol investigates fatal crash on Pine Hills Road

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 49-year-old New York woman was struck twice and killed in a hit-and-run crash Monday night in Pine Hills, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said Jeanette Hernandez, of Yonkers, died in the crash, which was reported at 8:36 p.m. on Pine Hills Road near Balboa Drive.

Troopers said Hernandez was crossing Pine Hills Road from west to east and was hit by a 2004 Buick Rainier driven by a 53-year-old Orlando man who was traveling south on Pine Hills Road. A second vehicle then hit Hernandez, who was on the road, troopers said.

Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said.

The driver of the Buick was not injured.

The second vehicle sped away, said troopers, who added that witnesses gave conflicting statements about its description.

"Anyone with information about the vehicle is encouraged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS," the FHP said.

An investigation is continuing, and charges are pending.
