DELTONA, Fla. – A sport utility vehicle plowed through the yard of a Volusia County home, knocking out a power pole, flipping on it side and coming to a stop feet from the front door.
The crash happened around 2:40 a.m. Friday on Sand Court in Deltona.
Elena Jones was asleep inside her home when she was awakened by the sound of the accident.
"I flipped out. We obviously though it was an explosion," said Jones. "It just sounded like lightning hit something. It's pretty scary. I've never actually seen anything like this."
No one was injured, including the driver.
The driver was cited for careless driving. Alcohol did not play a role in the crash, Volusia County deputies said.
It's not known how fast the vehicle was traveling at the time of the wreck.
Progress Energy replaced the power pole, which was split at the bottom.
