TAMPA, Fla. – A Florida dog learned what not to eat the hard way, and the dog's owner said it was all plotted by her cat.
A Tampa veterinarian said X-rays showed Lucy the Boston terrier had swallowed 27 hairbands.
But Lucy's owner said the only reason it happened is because her cat climbed up on the dresser and knocked her batch of hair bands to the ground.
Lucy underwent an hour-and-a-half long emergency surgery at the BluePearl Veterinary Partners to remove the bands, one by one, according to the vet.
Lucy is expected to make a full recovery and is scheduled to return home with her owners on Friday.
