Tampa teen claims Israeli police beat him while on trip in Israel

Teen's family pushes for charges

TAMPA, Fla. – A Tampa teen claims that he was beaten by police while on a trip to Israel.

Tarriq Hah-Dare, 15, is currently on house arrest in Tampa after he was taken into custody last week. The teen claims that Israeli police beat him while he was protesting the death of his cousin.

The teen's family is seeking charges against the officers who were involved in the arrest.

"I don't think there is anything at all that can justify police officers in uniform basically restraining the hands of a child then repeatedly kicking him over six times, almost a dozen times punching him to the head (and) the gut, while his body is lifeless," said Banner-Hassan Shibly, Tariq Khdeir's family lawyer.

The family is finding support from many, including The Council of American-Islamic Relations who are urging American officials to push for Hah-Dare's release.
