Members of American Legion Lodge 76, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care gathered for the celebration. Bolevich was honored during the ceremony and Rep. Daniel Webster gave him a U.S. flag that has flown over the Capitol.

He also received a pin to recognize his service and declaration from the mayor.

Bolevich said he was completely surprised by the party and when asked how he made it to 100 years old, he said he never smoked or drank any hard alcohol, but he does love beer. He said he drinks two a day.

"I like a beer and my doctor said don't worry about it. And I don't. I don't worry about it," Bolevich said.
