Technical rehearsals held for Harry Potter Escape from Gringotts ride

Diagon Alley expansion to open July 8

ORLANDO, Fla. – Three weeks before the opening of Universal Orlando's brand new attraction, Diagon Alley to the public, the Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts ride is still going through technical rehearsals.

On Thursday, Local 6 saw the lap bars are being checked and the amazing animations being played out.

Universal Studios Creative Director Thierry Coup says this is all normal every time they open a new ride with this type of technology.

Local 6 asked how long those rehearsals would last.

"It could take a few days it could take a few weeks but we know we know July 8 we are opening and it has to be perfect," said Coup.

This is the first time 3D images are paired with the roller coaster, which is why it takes so long to get it just right.

Harry Potter fans helped increase attendance by 50 percent at Universal Orlando Resort in the past few years. Now the question is whether a second Harry Potter park opening July 8 will keep numbers going up.
