Boy says someone inside SUV opened fire

DELTONA, Fla. – Investigators in Volusia County have caught the person who opened fire on a 13-year-old with a pellet gun, hitting him right in the face. The person they've arrested is 15 years old.

Tyler Bickford still has the pellet lodged above his eyebrow. His mother told Local 6 doctors are waiting for the swelling to go down before they perform surgery to remove it next week.

Investigators said Bickford was walking home from Deltona Middle School Tuesday night when 15-year-old Angel Vega started shooting from an SUV he was riding in with other teens. Investigators said Vega had his face covered with a T-shirt.

The teen who was driving told her mother what happened after seeing on the news that someone was hurt. Investigators said that mother told Vega to turn himself in or she would.

Friday afternoon, investigators said she showed up to the Sheriff's Office with the other teens who were in the SUV with Vega, and they told deputies what happened.

Investigators said they arrested Vega at his home and he gave them a full confession.

Vega is now charged with aggravated child abuse and aggravated assault.
