PORT ORANGE, Fla. - A 19-year-old Volusia County man was arrested Tuesday on murder charges in the slaying of his mother's boyfriend.

Dylan J. Reitzel, of Port Orange, was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder in the death of 52-year-old William F. Brooks Jr.  Reitzel was also charged with violation of probation for robbery.

According to Port Orange police, officers went to a home in the 4600 block of Spruce Creek Road around 11:30 p.m. in connection with a fight inside the home.

Officers found Brooks unresponsive inside the home, and he had injuries appeared to be caused by an "edged weapon," police said.

Brooks was taken to Halifax Hospital in Port Orange and later died, police said.

According to officials, four people were inside the home with Brooks, including his girlfriend, Donna A. Reitzel and her son, Dylan Reitzel.  Police said it appeared that the group had been drinking before Brooks was injured.

An autopsy will be conducted by the Volusia County Medical Examiner's Office to determine Brooks' cause of death.

Dylan Reitzel was taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail and was being held on no bond.

No other details were released.
