ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police have made two arrests in the case of an Orlando police officer injured after being run down during a traffic stop.

Local 6 has learned the officer who was injured, William Anderson, is now listed in serious condition and is being transferred to Shands Medical Center in Gainesville.
Police said Edward Kelty (pictured below left), 17, was driving south on Kirkman Road early Monday morning when Anderson approached with his gun drawn and was run over when he went to chase after a passenger.
"Edward Kelty was behind the wheel of the vehicle," Orlando Police Chief John Mina said. "We have physical evidence. We have forensic evidence, and we have testimony to put him behind the wheel of that vehicle ran over our officer."
Detectives made a second arrest Wednesday. Police said Angel Nieves (pictured below right), 17, was inside the car when Anderson was run over by Kelty. Both Kelty and Nieves will appear in court on Thursday afternoon.
OPD tweeted out an update Anderson's condition, saying "Prayers please: Officer William Anderson is in serious condition. He is currently being transported to Shands Hospital in Gainesville."
The parents of two of the teens inside of the car are now claiming the officer used excessive force.
Mina said the parents weren't there to see what happened.
"Our officers need to protect themselves when responding to a call when shots were fired," he said.
The driver, Kelty, was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder on a law enforcement officer. He was booked Wednesday afternoon into the Juvenile Assessment Center, police said.
Nieves has been charged with tampering with evidence. He is being held at the Juvenile Assessment Center.
Police said one other passenger remains on the run.
In the video released by OPD, Anderson approaches the driver's side of the car when the passenger gets out and runs off. As Anderson goes after the passenger, the driver of the car struck Anderson, and Anderson slid over the hood of the car.
Anderson fired off three shots as the car sped away, leaving him on the ground, police said.
Anderson was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and as of Wednesday, Mina said he was still in no shape to speak to investigators.
