Teen killed, 2 hurt in rollover crash in Oak Hill

OAK HILL, Fla. – A teenager was killed and two other teens were injured Wednesday night in a single-vehicle crash in Volusia County, deputies said.

Cody Goodrich, 16, was killed in the wreck, which happened around 9 p.m. on Halifax Avenue near Elleanore Street in Oak Hill.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, a 2005 Dodge Dakota was traveling westbound when it crossed over the railroad tracks and became airborne. The driver, 17-year-old Austen Goodrich, lost control of the vehicle when it hit the pavement and skidded sideways into a ditch, coming to rest on its side, deputies said.

The other three occupants were Austen Goodrich's cousin, Cody Goodrich, along with 17-year-old Brianna Wilson and 18-year-old Cheyenne Ellis, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Cody Goodrich was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.

Austen Goodrich and Wilson were taken to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach. Wilson was listed in critical condition and Goodrich was also in intensive care, listed in stable condition.

Ellis, the only passenger who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.

Deputies said several open containers of alcohol were found in the vehicle.

An investigation is ongoing.
