Temperatures in Central Florida soar

Cold front to follow 80-degree weather

ORLANDO, Fla. – This winter has been a roller coaster of a weather ride in Central Florida, and this week is no different.

High temperatures in the Orlando area on Tuesday will warm to near 80 degrees, and there's a 30 percent chance of rain.

The average high temperature in Orlando is 72, and the record-high temperature is 86 degrees, set in 1920.

Another cold front, however, will invade the region.

The overnight low will drop to 50 degrees, and Wednesday's high won't get out of the 50s.  There's a 40 percent chance of rain on Wednesday and Thursday.

The low into early Thursday morning will be in the low 40s in Orlando, with cooler temperatures for the northern Central Florida counties.

A warmup then arrives, with highs on Friday in the mid-70s.  The weekend will see high temperatures in the low 80s, with a 20 percent chance of rain.

Meanwhile, sleet, snow and freezing rain could be an issue for the Florida Panhandle into Wednesday morning.
