Disney's Grand Additions

Disney just announced the grandest addition to its best moneymaker (err best kept secret) is officially on sale.

grand flo villas

Yes -- I am talking about the newest addition to the Disney Vacation Club lineup: The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort.. We've been watching construction for years now.

Like Bay Lake Tower (Contemporary's DVC wing) the GF Villas were nearly 3/4 complete before Disney even admitted they were building anything at all. Why? The fear is the newest shiny object will hurt sales of the existing properties like Saratoga Springs, Animal Kingdom Lodge, even the stunningly beautiful Aulani in Hawaii.

Speaking of Aulani it may be inspiring the NEXT DVC property -- but more on that soon.

But back to the Grand Floridian -- here is your first look inside what the villas will look like. Starting with the Living room.

And the bedroom.

Those images come from a new video tour Disney released to announce the units are going on sale.  You can watch it below.

So -- how does the Grand addition stack up price-wise?? No surprise it appears to be the most-expensive Disney time-share yet. The addition is going up at what Disney considers its flagship resort, after all.
I'm a journalist, not a math guy -- so I turned to the experts at DVCNews.com

They write: "Nightly point costs at the Grand Floridian run 30-40% higher than comparable views at Bay Lake Tower. In fact, the price for Grand Floridian Lake View rooms are constantly higher than even the Magic Kingdom theme park view at Bay Lake Tower.

You can learn a lot more about the money-side of the DVC resort at their web site.

The Grand Opening of the Grand Villas is expected to be in October 2013.

If you REALLY want to splurge -- you can actually live in the magic. About a week ago, Disney announced it is expanding its megamoney Golden Oak Luxury Residential area -- between Port Orleans & Fort Wilderness.

PANORAMA

The newest neighborhood there will be named Marceline -- after the tiny Missouri town Walt himself grew up in. But while Walt's family was among the poorest of the poor -- Homes here will start at $1.7 Million with a minimum of 3,800 square feet. Disney says there are 19 half-acre lots in Marceline. Yes it will be gated. Here's an example of the types of homes allowed in Golden Oak.

GOLDEN OAK

Marceline homes will either have a water view or will border a nature preserve. All of them are in walking distance of a swank new club house and restaurant.
And Golden Oak will also be home to Central Florida's first 4-Seasons Resort.

4 SEASONS

There must be a market here. Disney says the first four neighborhoods have all but sold out in about two years.
You do get some perks  -- including concierge services, door to theme park transportation and you do get to go to all of the Extra Magic Hours you like.

Here's a link  to the Golden Oak website if you'd like  to learn more.
