Quick Avatarland Update
(well, kinda)

While I would love to tell you details about what "Pandora: The World of Avatar" will really include when it opens -- it appears decisions aren't final yet.
It is looking more and more like it will happen now--- despite some very significant development, creative and money woes.

But what I can show you is how Animal Kingdom is getting ready to demolish Camp Minnie-Mickey -- which is where Avatarland would be built.

This week -- Mickey and Minnie themselves moved out of Camp Minnie-Mickey.
In a stunning move, Disney actually closed a shop.

Beastly Bazaar  -- near Flame Tree Barbecue -- closed last August. It reopened this week as Adventurers Outpost -- your new home to meet Mickey & Minnie at Animal Kingdom. See PR Photo below.

Here's what Disney says about it: "Step inside Adventurers Outpost, and you'll find mementos from Mickey and Minnie's expeditions around the world, including stunning photographs from their trips to destinations as varied as the mountains of Nepal and the savannas of Africa.
Of course, some of the best memories of all come when you get your chance to meet Mickey and Minnie, share stories of your own travels and capture that postcard-perfect photo..."

The other big draw in Camp Minnie-Mickey is, of course, the Festival of the Lion King show.

It is one of the most popular shows in a park that is light on attractions. The park needs it open.  It needs a new home. And as you can see from Sky6: It is getting one.

That's a wide shot of the area in Africa near Tusker House & the Dawa Bar where a new home for the show will be going up soon. Plans I've seen show it to be a near-exact duplicate of the theater that houses the show now.
Here's a closer look at the site.

No word on if Disney will add new elements. But after 15 years of near-daily use -- the floats might need an overhaul. (They were originally built for a Lion King parade at Disneyland in 1994)

Once Lion King opens in its new home -- expect the rest of the meet & greets to go away from Camp Minnie-Mickey. I still hear land clearing will start this year for the new land.
Hopefully, I can soon bring you more details of what will be built.

That's it for today. Keep your emails, questions, and comments coming!
