Thief smashes car windows at Orlando apartment complex

Search fails to locate man wearing gray clothing

ORLANDO, Fla. – Nearly a dozen cars were broken into overnight Wednesday at an Orlando apartment complex, deputies said.

The cars, all of which had windows smashed, were located at the Harbor Beach Apartments on Five Flags Boulevard near State Road 436.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said at least eight vehicles were burglarized, and one of the car owners caught the thief in the act.

The burglar ran off, however, and K-9 units and a helicopter failed to locate him.

The assailant was described as about 220 pounds and he had on a gray hat, a gray shirt and gray pants.

No other details were released.
