Thieves steal $8K of Florida man's lawn equipment

TAMPA, Fla. – Thieves stole a trailer loaded with commercial equipment from a Tampa man who started a lawn maintenance business to better care for the three children he's raising alone.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office thefts like the one Douglas Hall experienced last week are all too common. They held a program last month in Ruskin to allow people to register their trailers as part of the Trailer Identification Program.

Hall told the Tampa Tribune he's out about $8,000 worth of equipment. He says he parked the trailer on the side of his home and parked his Jeep in front of it. Thieves broke into the Jeep, broke the steering column, pushed the vehicle back and took the trailer.

For now Hall is working for a friend's lawn company.
