Central Florida high school donates stuffed animals to San Bernadino students

Members of the Beta Club began fundraising to help students

ORLANDO, Fla. – They say in times of tragedy, you should always look for helpers. That is precisely what the Beta Club at Timber Creek High School wanted to be for the elementary school students affected by the shooting earlier this week in San Bernardino.

The shooting left a teacher and an 8-year-old student at North Park Elementary School dead. The shooter took his own life at the school.

This was the second tragic shooting in the California town. In December 2015, 14 people were killed and 22 others were seriously injured in a terrorist attack at the Inland Regional Center.

The Timber Creek High School Beta Club began the effort to seek donations in order to send the students stuffed animals. The creater of the project, Hannah Lockwood, called the movement "Stuffed with love for San Bernardino."

"I know something like that is super traumatic and something they're going to remember for the rest of their lives. If I can do something to just alleviate that for maybe a day or a second or something like that," student Mia Minken said.

Donations can be brought to the front office of Timber Creek High School or to Groom, Grub and Belly Rub by Monday, April 17. If anyone is unable to bring a donation to either location, e-mail htlockwood@gmail.com.
