Titusville woman dies in Port St. John crash

PORT SAINT JOHN, Fla. – A 26-year-old Titusville woman was killed in a crash in Port St. John Saturday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Spokeswoman Kim Montes said Brittany Thornton was taken to Parrish Medical Center in Titusville where she succumbed to her injuries after the crash at U.S. 1 and Kings Highway.

News 6 partner Florida Today reported that according to the FHP, she was traveling northbound on U.S. 1 and failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, left the road, and struck a mailbox and tree.

Crews first responded to the scene just after 6 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
