PALM BAY, Fla. - Three have been arrested in connection with the robbery of an 80-year-old grandmother at gunpoint in her Palm Bay home.
Local 6 news partner Florida Today reports Iesha Lewis, 20, Ackeeta Brown, 20, and Michael Lloyd, 21, were charged with armed home invasion robbery, aggravated assault on a person over 65 and grand theft, according to Palm Bay police. If convicted of the felony crimes, the trio would face a maximum of 50 years in prison.
Police said the woman went to her front door at about 10 a.m. on Oct. 20, expecting to find her grandson, but instead she was met by a man with a gun and a knit cap covering his face, according to police. The man and at least two other people also wearing knit caps over their faces forced their way into the woman's home in the 700 block of Airoso Road.
While a gun was pointed at the woman, police said one suspect took a ring off her finger and the necklace off her neck, along with jewelry, cash, a flat-screen television, all valued by police at $750.
As the suspects fled, two witnesses who were working on landscaping jobs nearby saw them running and getting into a dark beige Chevy Blazer. They noted the license plate number and briefly followed the vehicle, getting descriptions of the suspects as they no longer had their faces covered.
