2 teens accused of robbing taxi driver arrested in Kissimmee

Cops: Teens asked driver for ride, then held driver at gunpoint

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Osceola County Sheriff's detectives arrested two juveniles who are facing three charges after being accused of robbing a taxi on Jan.4. 

Efrain Ocasio, III, 16, and Edward Rivera, 15, were charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and grand theft.

The detectives arrested them after receiving  a Crimeline tip that the juveniles were involved in an armed robbery of a taxi cab driver. 

According to the news release from Osceola County Sheriff's Office, the robbery and assault occurred on Jan. 4 at approximately 2:35 p.m.

Deputies said they were called to Walmart on Vineland Road in Kissimmee by a taxi cab driver who said he was sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot when the teens approached him and asked for a ride to the Old Town/Fun Spot area. 

The driver told the teens to go to the first taxi in the line, according to the report, but they returned a few minutes later.

"One of the suspects pulled out a handgun from his jacket and demanded the taxi cab driver's money," the release stated. "The two suspects left the area with an undisclosed amount of money."
